Onboarding
Set publication identity, choose a vertical, and pick initial sources. Onboarding is required before you can enter the feed.
Onboarding is a one-time setup. It tells HermesAI what kind of newsroom you run, what you cover, and where to start watching.
Required
The newsroom workspace is locked until onboarding is complete. This is intentional — without these signals, the feed has nothing useful to show you.
Onboarding flow
Choose solo or team workspace
Solo means one person, one workspace. Team means multiple editors sharing the same feed, queues, monitoring rules, and integrations. Team requires a Business plan.
Set publication identity
The publication name your audience knows you by. HermesAI uses this for voice context inside drafts, not as a byline on output.
Pick a primary vertical
Politics, tech, sports, food, markets, climate, gaming, fashion — whatever your beat is. The vertical seeds the initial source set and shapes early feed prioritisation.
Select initial sources
Pick from the curated catalog. You'll see suggested sources for your vertical. You can also add custom feeds (RSS, sitemap) here or later from Monitoring.
Confirm and enter the feed
HermesAI starts watching the moment onboarding completes. The feed may show as "Collecting" briefly while the first batch of stories arrives.

Team onboarding notes
If you're onboarding a team workspace:
Owner does onboarding
The newsroom owner runs onboarding. Teammates invited later don't repeat it — they land directly in the feed with their assigned role.
- The owner sets publication identity and the primary vertical for the team.
- The initial source list applies to everyone.
- After onboarding, the owner invites teammates from Workspace → Team and assigns roles (
admin,member).
After onboarding
